In 2009-2010 year 3 have been taken swimming. Shifting to a new venue in Stetchford Cascades has made it possible to use smaller style teaching pools which combined with the decision to take smaller groups swimming over a 6 week block, in contrast to more than double the number of children for 12 weeks has meant children get more space and instruction. The boys have all now completed their swimming for the year and now it is the turn of the girls.
I hope that the children feel more confident and will pester parents, grand parents and older brothers and sisters to be taken swimming! All of the local pools offer swimming lessons after school and at weekends. when are we going to do swimming how come yr 3 is doing swimming and not us !!!
Hi Mahima, thank you for your post. Currently in school time we are only able to take one year group swimming per year and that year group is year 3. If you are interested in improving your swimming why not ask your parents nicely to enquire about lessons after school or at the weekend at either Stetchford Cascades http://www.leisure.birmingham.gov.uk/sites/Stechford/stechford.htm or at Small Heath Leisure centre http://www.leisure.birmingham.gov.uk/sites/Smallheath/smlheath.htm
Also if you get a Swim4Free Leisure Card you can swim for free in public sessions but be safe and take an adult with you! If adults live in Birmingham they too can use Birmingham leisure facilities for free! Get your parents to check out http://www.birmingham.gov.uk/beactive

Sulaimaan, have a read through my comment above. Only year 3 are going swimming in school time at the moment. Both of the pools listed above run swimming lessons, ask your folks nicely if you can have lessons and get swimming after school or at the weekend!
All of the girls in 3B and 3H have now completed their swimming for the year. Nearly all have gained their level 1 swimming certificate and one girl, Isma Farooq has swam 10 metres without stopping, well done Isma! I hope you have enjoyed it and will enquire about swimming lessons at your local pools!!
