The purpose of this post is to make you start thinking like a sports reporter and tell everyone what you have seen, sharing your views, opinions and facts with others!

Use the plan below to help write your sports report, remember to use complete sentences and think about connectives and keeping it interesting!

  • What sport is it?
  • When and where did the event take place?
  • Who are playing?
  • Who were the key players?
  • What happened?
  • Your opinions and quotes of others
  • Results?

Most importantly do not forget to sign off with your ‘by-line’ and class so that we know who wrote the sports report.  A few ideas of events to report on this weekend -

BangladeshvEngland test cricket

TottenhamvBlackburn Premier league football

Rugby Union

X-country athletics

Indian Wells Masters Tennis

Have fun with your sports writing and try to be factual.  If you have been to watch or play something this weekend you might like to report on that too. I look forward to reading and approving your sports journalism!

  5. Hi All,
I think this blog is a fantastic idea and a great way to get pupils to start to think and talk more about sport!!

Hope you will all be watching the rugby this weekend and cheering England on!!

  6. The 6 nations Grand Slam consists of 6 teams from 6 countries, these countries are; Scotland, England, Ireland, France, Wales and Italy.

Scotland beat Ireland in todays 6 nation rugby match. All the players worked really hard and in places I thought Ireland might catch up in the later stages.

Wales easily beat Italy 33-10 restoring faith in the current Wales team and coach.

There is one rugby match left tonight, England play France in Paris. Kick off is at 715 and you can watch the game on BBC 1!

  10. Just watching the London Marathon on BBC 1. The elite runners are running so fast! This is the 30th London Marathon. A marathon is 26.2 miles long. You can see the route at http://www.virginlondonmarathon.com/marathon-centre/2010-virgin-london-marathon-information/2010-2010-virgin-london-marathon-information/

If any adults wish to enter the ballot (because so many people want to run the race your name goes into a draw) for the event in 2011 the ballot opens on May 4th 2010
